Reef

Reef was founded in 1984 by Argentinean brothers Fernando and Santiago Aguerre, the company headquarters are located at San Diego, California, USA. The duo were passionate about surfing, and wished to create a superior quality, active lifestyle sandal, the target market for which was primarily surfers and beach dwellers however these sandals were soon adopted by people out of this small community in areas such as skateboarding, snowboarding, and even mainstream fashion.

The Aguerre brothers wanted to distance themselves from other surf brands and this lead to the creation of Miss Reef, an idea inspired by the beautiful women seen on the South American beaches. This concept still remains with the company today, and there is a different Miss Reef for each calendar Month. The faces and identities of the women are never shown and this makes these gorgeous women seem even more exotic. Miss Reef has been a vital factor in the success of the company over the years.
