Panic! At the Disco

Panic! At the Disco (or Panic! For short) are a Las Vegas band who hit the bigtime in 2005 with their debut album A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. Full of dramatic vocals and very long song titles, the album did well in both the UK and US.

The band consists of Brendon Urie (Lead vocals, guitar and keyboards), Ryan Ross (lead guitar), Jon Walker (bass) and Spencer Smith (drums)

The band decided to take a chance and contacted Pete Wentz from Fall out Boy. He went to meet the band in Las Vegas and was so impressed, he asked them to sign to his record label.

Panic’s debut single I Write Sins not Tragedies was released in 2006 and had a spooky circus themed video, with clowns and tophats a plenty. It even won video at the year at the 2006 MTV music awards and has been viewed on YouTube over eight million times.

In May 2006 former bassist Brent Wilson left the band, although he claimed he was fired and promptly demanded a cut of the band’s royalties The band then took on Jon Walker as a replacement.

Panic! Are due to release their second album Pretty Odd on the 24/3/08. We’ll be reviewing it as soon as it comes out!
