Atticus was founded in 2001 Dylan Anderson, Jon Humphrey, along with Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge (of the pop-punk band blink-182).

The name Atticus Clothing was comes from the main character of the book To Kill a Mocking Bird by the author Harper Lee. Atticus Finch is a lawyer who defends Tom Robinson, a black man on trial for rape, in front of an all-white jury. Atticus is shown to be a crusader for good causes.

The Atticus logo, known as the “Resting Bird” depicts a bird lying on its back and is a pictorial representation of the book To Kill a Mocking Bird. The Atticus women’s clothing line is called Atticus Scout, which is named after the novel’s character Scout Finch.

The company is heavily influenced by music and have released three volumes of their Dragging The Lake compilation Cd’s, featuring songs from bands such as New Found Glory, Bane, Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, Death Cab for Cutie, and Rise Against.

Their clothing is aimed at the punk and emo fashions with skinny fit jeans, hoodies, and tee shirts, with these clothing for men.
