Roxy
In 1990, the surf brand, Quiksilver, decided to create a range of clothing exclusively for women. This women’s surf wear company is known as Roxy. The decision to create a brand of clothing primarily for women surfers came about after seeing that the market for women’s surf wear had previously been untouched.
This was a bold move for Quiksilver as surfing was, and still is, a mainly male dominated sport. However, the risk was worthwhile as their launch in 1990 led to instant success and booming profits. The brand at first produced mainly swimwear, however in 1992 a denim clothing line and certain snow-wear pieces were added to the Roxy brand.
Their logo depicts a double Quiksilver logo (the wave and mountain) although one is mirrored creating the image of a heart in the shape of the two mirrored waves. In recent years the Roxy brand has expanded further to contain a full clothing line containing (although not limited to) dresses, t-shirts, jeans, skirts, hoodies, board shorts and loungewear.
The Roxy brand also contains a footwear line, a snow range and a large selection of assorted accessories (including various fragrances) however the brand remains focussed primarily on surf wear, with a line now containing wetsuits and other such apparel.
