Etnies
The footwear brand, Etnies was founded in France by Pierre-André Sénizergues in 1986. Back then the name was Etnics, a name derived from the word “Ethnic” referring to the subculture and lifestyle of the small groups of skateboarders who often travel like tribes in small groups.
In 1987 the name was changed to Etnies because of legal issues; in the same year, Etnies hosted its first skateboarding event, the A.S.W (Authentic Skate Weekend). In 1989, Etnies began providing skate wear to the United States. Throughout the two decades that Etnies has been running, they have hosted and sponsored a huge number of skateboarding events. The brand is passionate about skating, being one of the few brands to be started and run by a skater, and to remain that way as the brand grew in popularity.
Today, the Etnies brand holds a phenomenal range of skate shoes for men, women and children, a complete clothing range for men women and children containing; shorts, pants, t shirts, hats, beanies, bags, jackets, accessories, tops, sweatshirts, long-sleeved tops, sweaters and dresses. They even provide a small range of clothing for toddlers containing t shirts and accessories. Etnies is a true skate brand, with skateboarding held firmly at their heart.
