Restyle is a relatively unheard of Gothic accessories brand that offers a range of amazing handbags, hats, gloves, belts, necklaces and earrings. We asked Kates Clothing to give us an insight into this new brand.

Why did you decide to stock Restyle?

There were a few factors that inspired us to stock Restyles accessories. Firstly the items look great, they have a genuine alternative style to them and it feels like they have been designed by people that not only understand alternative culture but appreciate it and enjoy it. I think alternative shoppers can really smell a rat, if someone is producing items to be worn by Goths, metal heads or punks and doesn’t truly get the culture the people will notice and will not by into their brand so for us at Kate’s Clothing it is very important to maintain the integrity of our store by only stocking real alternative wear.

Secondly a factor in taking on Restyle was the prices. The items are excellent value! Looking alternative can be so pricey at times so its great to have a brand on board that is affordable and high impact! It’s a win for everyone!

Does Restyle fit a single Gothic subculture?

Restyle is a very classically Gothic label, they produce some very unique takes on traditional Gothic accessories such a high neck collars, brooches and pendants. Many of their items surround very Gothic themes so you can expect to see plenty of vampire bats, skeletons, rams, ravens, and skulls with in their collection. Restyle use a lot of modern versions of Victoria style materials to give their modern items a real classical feel, this includes fabrics such as faux leather and faux velvet and metals such as faux silver.

I think that we are soon to see a big come back from traditional Gothic wear and restyle are about to be at the front of this trend

What are the stand-out pieces?

The stand out piece for us are the Book shoulder bags ‘Dark poetry’ in black faux leather and ‘Steampunk stories’ in brown faux leather. These shoulder bag are not only a great size for every day use but really quirky and unique. Though traditional Gothic wear is making a big return people are always craving a new take on things, something they haven’t seen before, an update on a classic and these bags really fall into that bracket.

Another stand out piece from restyle is the wide elastic skeleton belt. There are a combination of factors that make this piece a winner. It has a large cameo style skeleton section that goes over your middle fixed onto a wide elastic cinching belt that acts a bit like a waspie but with none of the hassle. So its already winning on style and comfort before we even consider the uniqueness of the piece and wear-ability. There is very little like this on the Gothic market which gives it great brownie points and then as it is just a wide belt and not a corset, it can be worn with pretty much anything. Finally it really wins on price, when you look at how much it can improve an outfit you realize you also realize what a good price it is!

At Kate’s Clothing we sold out of these items in one evening, so it seems that lots of our fans agree with me… but don’t worry new stock has just arrived but you will have to hurry!
