Category : Band Profiles

The Offspring are the great-grandaddies of the skater punk scene. The band were originally called Manic Subsidal and formed in 1984 in California and currently consists of Dexter Holland (vocals, guitar), Noodles (lead guitar), Greg Kriesel (bass) and most recent addition to the band Pete Parada (drums).
The band’s first self-titled album was released on vinyl in 1989 (the cd version was not released until six years later). Ignition was released in 1992 and Smash was released in 1994 – an album which included hits such as Self-Esteem and Gotta Get Away.
Ixnay on the Hombre was released in 1996 and Americana was released in 1998. This album included Pretty Fly for a White Guy and Why Don’t you Get a Job, and catapulted the band into the mainstream.
Conspiracy of One was released in 2000, and Splinter was released in 2003 (the band originally wanted to call it Chinese Democracy in reference to the long-delayed Guns ‘n’ Roses album but were not allowed).
Eighth album Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace was released in June of this year and is being accompanied by a tour.
The Offspring have released eight albums: The Offspring (1989), Ignition (1992), Smash (1994), Ixnay on the Hombre (1997), Americana (1998), Conspiracy of One (2000), Splinter (2003) and Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace (2008)
