Mötley Crüe – Band Profile

Category : Band Profiles

Motley Crue

Mötley Crüe are one of the hardest rocking bands in the world! Formed in the eighties, their backstage antics have become legendary, and their lives are set to be immortalised in a film based on their best selling autobiography The Dirt.

The band consists of Vince Neil (Vocals), Mick Mars (Guitar), Nikki Sixx (Bass) and Tommy Lee (Drums). The band formed in 1981 and released debut album Too Fast for Love that year. It originally only sold 20,000 copies, but was remixed and rereleased in 1982. Albums Shout at the Devil, Theatre of Pain and Girls, Girls, Girls shortly followed, as well as antics with groupies, awesome stage stunts and the band being band from several towns.

In the mid-eighties, the band decided to sober up (especially after Nikki Sixx nearly died from a heroin overdose) and released Dr Feelgood in 1989. Decade of Decadence was released in 1991.

Vince Neil left the band in 1992 and was replaced by John Corabi. Self-titled Mötley Crüe was released in 1994 but nothing else was released until Vince Neil rejoined the band in 1997. Generation Swine was released shortly after.

Tommy Lee left the band in 1999 to pursue a solo career. Next Motley Album New Tattoo was released in 2000. The band however reunited for a new tour in 2005.

Their latest album (provisionally titled The Dirt) is set to be released this Summer. Hold on to your revolving drumkits!

Mötley Crüe have released eight albums: Too Fast for Love (1981), Shout at the Devil(1983), Theatre of Pain (1985), Girls, Girls, Girls (1987), Dr. Feelgood (1989), Mötley Crüe (1994), Generation Swine (1997) and
