Blink 182

Although Blink 182 are no longer with us, loads of people remember them for their cool style, funny punky songs and hilarious gigs.

Blink 182 were formed in 1992 by Tom DeLonge (Vocals, Guitar) and Mark Hoppus (Bass, Guitar). Their drummer was Scott Raynor, although he was replaced by the heavily tattooed Travis Barker in 1998. Their first album Buddha was released in 1993 and re-released in 1998.

In 1994 the band released their album Cheshire Cat, which was recorded in three days. In 1997, the band released third full-length album Dude Ranch. This was the last album Raynor worked on before he left, and the song Dammit proved to be a modest hit in the charts.

The band hit the big time in 1999 with Enema of the State - with such hits as All The Small Things and What’s My Age Again? This was followed in 2000 with live album The Mark, Tom and Travis Show: The Enema Strikes Back which was a mix of live songs and funny banter.

In 2001 Take Off Your Pants and Jacket was released, the first song off the album being the Rock Show. In 2003 Blink 182 was released – an album which marked a new style and a newfound maturity for the band. Songs included Feeling This, Down and I Miss You – a love song which wasn’t like anything the band had recorded before. Robert Smith from the Cure guested on the album.

In 2005 DeLonge suddenly left the group to persue a career with his band Angels and Airwaves so it was decided to put the band on hiatus and call it a day. Barker and Hoppus concentrated on their band +44 instead. A greatest hits album was released at the end of 2005 but many fans hope that this isn’t the end of Blink 182 and that one day they will come back with new material.
