Eastpak Behind The Brand

Category : Reviews

Eastpak began in 1960 when Monte Goldman began producing bags for the armed forces. The main turn around for the company was in 1976 when, after persuasion from his son Mark, Monte began producing bags for the general public which quickly gained them popularity, mainly with students in colleges and universities.

While still keeping bags at the heart of the brand, Eastpak have branched off to include clothing and accessories in their range to help them cater to a wider market. They are so confident in the high quality of their bags that most of them come with a 30 year guarantee.

The bags come in a variety of styles such as messenger bags, backpacks, travel bags and specialist campus bags for students. These different types of bag come in a large range of colours and designs from a regular black or grey to a bright turquoise or even green camouflage.

Eastpak Luggage And Backpacks

Eastpak bags are perfect for days out, holidays abroad, hiking, and taking to college or university, with enough space for all the things you need for whatever activity or use it is needed for. Eastpak bags are extremely hard-wearing and unlike most bags around these days, they are built to last.

Billabong Behind The Brand

Category : Reviews

Billabong was established in 1973 by husband and wife, Gordon and Rena Merchant. The headquarters of the company still reside on the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia where it was first set up.

Billabong Clothing

The company started with the couple designing and making board shorts in their home and selling them to the local surf shop. The local surfers took an instant liking to the incredibly durable and functional board shorts, with a unique triple-stitching design developed by Mr. Merchant. In the 1980s, once Billabong had secured its place in Australian surf culture, it decided to spread its wings and try to infiltrate the North American market, which it achieved without any trouble. In the late 1980s Billabong reached Europe.

Billabong now produce mainly surf wear and other board sports related apparel such as a complete clothing range which contains board shorts, t shirts, denim, trousers and hoodies among many more items. They also produce and sell wetsuits, a snow range, surfboards and various assorted accessories including watches and belts.

The name comes from the Australian term for a lake found by a river, which is also known as an oxbow lake. The brand logo contains the monochrome silhouettes of 2 waves against a black (or white) background.

WESC Behind The Brand

Category : Reviews

The initials of the brand WESC stand for “We Are the Superlative Conspiracy”. It is a company firmly associated with the skateboarding culture and not just a clothing company within the fashion industry.

The company currently produces clothes such as hats, hoodies, tops, board shorts, jackets, shirts, vests, t shirts, sweaters, jeans, boxers, belts, dresses, and wallets for both men and women. This brand creates street fashion, for a subculture and community who follow their own trends and rules that they set themselves.

They believe that the ‘street wear’ created by mainstream fashion companies is not true street wear and that the clothes which these other companies make are merely garments with decorative prints on them, which lack the history and credibility which comes with a larger, specialist street wear brands. True street wear is more than just clothing, it is associated with a lifestyle, and the clothing is created with the passion and rawness associated with the street scene.

WESC also provide a huge selection of headphones and earphones which are also popular within the skate and street communities as music plays a huge part in their subculture, whether they’re attending concerts or gigs, simply hanging out with friends, or just skating ramps in the skate park.

Atticus Behind The Brand

Atticus Clothing

Founded in 2001 by Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus (of Blink-182 fame) and their childhood friend, Dylan Anderson; Atticus is a clothing brand, created for musicians, by musicians. Their brand name comes from the name of the main character’s father in the Harper Lee book “To Kill a Mockingbird”, Atticus Finch. The logo depicts a bird lying on its back which is another reference to “To Kill a Mockingbird” as it is a direct reference to the book’s title. However, the logo is known as the “resting bird” and appears more like a finch (which could be another link to the TKAMB character due to his surname being Finch.

Their brand contains mainly clothing such as t shirts and sweatshirts although the brand does hold some jeans and accessories such as bags, purses, hats and gloves. Most of the clothing either has the Resting Bird depicted on it somewhere or the brand name.

The main objective of Atticus is to give something back to the music industry. And helped several smaller bands to be wider known by releasing three “Dragging the Lake” compilation CDs which included tracks from bands such as Coheed and Cambria, Alkaline Trio, Jimmy Eat World, Rise Against, and New Found Glory.
