The Wombats - Moving to New York - Single Review

2007 was the year that Scouse threesome The Wombats lept onto the alternative music scene with their album A Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation. Will they be around to see the end of 2008 though?

Moving to New York is a rocky, guitar laden stomper with a trippy video. It’s very different to the more synthy Let’s Dance to Joy Division, but therein lies the problem. Whilst their previous single was very unique, Moving to New York sounds like any of the up-and-coming guitar bands could have released it. It’s not that it’s a bad tune - it’s just that it’s not all that original.
