Paul Weller - Artist Profile

Paul Weller is one of Britain’s most well-known singer/singwriters. Initially in bands such as The Jam and The Style Council, he is now a popular solo artist and an inspiration to Mods everywhere.
Born in 1958, he formed the Jam in 1977 who had such hits such as Going Underground, Start! (which took its bassline from Taxman by The Beatles) and Town Called Malice. The band broke up in 1982 and Weller formed The Style Council in 1983 and the band lasted for six years.
After The Style Council, Paul Weller started on his succesful solo career which is still going from strength to strength. He was a huge influence on bands such as Ocean Colour Scene and Oasis during the Britpop period (he even appeared on Oasis’ Champagne Supernova on backing vocals). His most recent album 22 Dreams has just been released.
