Maximo Park - Band Profile

I don’t know about you but I’m a huuuuuuge fan of Maximo Park. They’ve released two albums and have won a lot of praise for their angsty songs and frantic stage shows.
The band formed in the North-East in 2000 and consists of Paul Smith (Vocals), Duncan Lloyd (Guitar), Archis Tiki (Bass), Lukas Wooller (Keyboards) and Tom English (Drums).
The band took their name from Maximo Gomez Park, a meeting place in Havana where Cuban Revolutionaries got together.
They released debut album A Certain Trigger in 2005, which was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. The key single from this album was the shouty Apply Some Pressure, which not only was remixed by Mark Ronson on his album Version, but also appeared as a song on popular Playstation karaoke game Singstar.
In 2007, second album Our Earthly Pleasures was released - which was accompanied by a tour and a spot supporting The Police. Key singles from this album included Our Velocity (with an awesome video!), Karaoke Plays and Girls Who Play Guitars.
Maximo Park have released two albums: A Certain Trigger (2005) and Our Earthly Pleasures (2007).
