Foo Fighters - Band Profile

Foo Fighters are one of the biggest bands around at the moment - having won two Brit awards and selling out arena tours wherever they go.
The band is led by Dave Grohl, who orginally played drums in Seattle grunge band Nirvana. The Foo Fighters name comes from World War II term for a mysterious phenomena in the sky.
Foo Fighters was originally a solo project by Grohl - on the 1995 debut album, Grohl played the majority of the instruments himself. However as time went on, more and more members were drafted into the group. The band currently consists of Grohl (vocals, guitar), Taylor Hawkins (drums), Nate Mendel (bass) and Chris Shiflett (guitar)
Second album The Color and the Shape was released in 1997 - which included classic rock hits such as Everlong and Monkey Wrench.
There is Nothing Left to Lose was released in 1999. This album included iconic song Learn to Fly - with its funny video starring Tenacious D stars Jack Black and Kyle Gass (Grohl would later repay the favour by appearing as the devil in one of their videos)
One by One was released in 2002. At the same time - Grohl took some time out to play drums with Queens of the Stone Age.
Double album In Your Honor was released in 2005 - including one cd of rock tracks and one cd of acoustic tracks.
In 2007 the band released their most recent album Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace. The band show no sign of stopping just yet!
